Goddess News‘ axiom:
‘If you want to be spiritual, ask uncomfortable questions,’
Goddess News, Spiritual Blog, Divine Feminine, Dr Joanna Kujawa, Spiritual Detective :).
Dearest friends, The Goddess News Blog has just taken another BIG STEP.
There is so much mystery and there are so many ‘conspiracy’ theories around Mary Magdalene that stretch back and out to the very origins of our species that I have decided to devote the next few blogs to investigating the mystery and these theories. I would like to invite you to come on this mystical adventure with me.
I can promise you a few things.
- I will use all my scholarly capital to look into this and will not feed you any nonsense
- At the same time, I will remain disciplined and not use an academic prejudice against theories that might be considered far-fetched simply because they are ignored by mainstream scholars. This includes academic books and television programs on the subject.
You may ask why I would risk possibly discrediting myself, and the answer is very simple for me. I am a truth-seeker and, like every writer and researcher, I am a curious person. On top of that I am idealistic enough to spend my time and money seeking as much truth as possible about things that fascinate me.
At the conscious level, my Magdalene adventure began unfolding for me when, before my trip to Jerusalem (described in my book Jerusalem Diary), one of my two future travelling companions handed me the Gospel of Mary Magdalene.
I was simultaneously delighted and shocked, as throughout all of my studies in philosophy, religion and history I had never heard of it! This in itself opened my mind to the possibility that perhaps the stories we know are either not told fully or, to a lesser or greater degree, are controlled, if not manipulated.
At a less conscious level, I have always felt there was something amiss with the traditional religious stories we are told. Perhaps some people do not want us to know certain things or perhaps these people think we were not ready to hear the whole story. I do not know.
I also had some strange personal encounters when I was studying yoga in Asia but I am reluctant to share them at this stage, as I am not sure how open you are to the idea of reincarnation and related concepts. Let me just say that I have been told some interesting things about my (supposed?) past lives which, in some ways, have helped me to understand why I have always been drawn to mystical studies and, even more importantly, why I have had doubts about how the story of early Christianity has been told.
Are you still with me?
Normally, I do not like to be so personal and prefer to focus on sharing knowledge, or what I would prefer to call ‘Lost Wisdom’. So I will stop these personal revelations here and share with you three things that I strongly believe relate to this Lost Wisdom.
Firstly, there have been powerful movements and first-class mystics, philosophers, alchemists, writers and thinkers in general (both past and present – including Carl Jung) who have investigated these theories and found them to be valid.
Carl Jung, understandably, was very cautious with his writings, and only at the end of his life, when writing his autobiography Memories, Dreams, Reflections, was he willing to admit to his real interests. And initially he only did so only in the German editions of the book, as he did not believe English-speaking audiences would be able to accept his views.
Secondly, it is extremely important nowadays, as we evolve spiritually both individually and as a species, that we investigate the truth about the leading figures of the divine feminine such as the Mother Goddess, Sophia and Mary Magdalene.
There is plenty of alternative evidence only touched upon by independent scholars that suggests these three divine feminine archetypes might refer to one and the same being (as my earlier blog http://www.joannakujawa.com/isis-mary-magdalene-dark-madonnas-as-the-archetypes-of-the-other-goddess/ suggests).
Finally, I think it is truly and outrageously unacceptable that nowadays, at the beginning of the 21st century, the feminine divine is still viewed as a marginal, ‘alternative’ topic, and that even the study of the feminine divine is still controlled by the very same organisations that have always repressed it. The feminine aspect of creation, both human and divine, is not a marginal topic. It needs to be investigated as deeply as possible.
Not only because we need to know the feminine power within us and to project it into the world (this applies to both women and men), but also because the world needs it. The old systems, whichever they be, have done (perhaps) the best they can but they are falling apart – and rightly so, as they are destroying the planet and ravaging our souls.
We need to bring the Goddess back! And both the feminine and masculine principles must reign as Equals for Universal Balance to return to our lives.
The Gnostics (notably in my two favourite Gnostic Gospels: The Gospel of Mary Magdalene and The Gospel of Philip) and Carl Jung, in his gnostic work Seven Sermons to the Dead, speak of this Divine Androgyny – which is essential for our spiritual evolution.
So to make a long story short – we need to look into this so we can fulfil our potential, live balanced, meaningful lives and live some legacy to past generations that we can be proud of.
If you are still reading and still want to join me on a fascinating adventure that will change your life, my future blogs will be on:
- Mary Magdalene and Alexandria (as suggested by Margaret Starbird and French legends. Alexandria was the centre of Gnosticism at that time and there are stories that Mary Magdalene lived there for a while)
- Mary Magdalene, Merovingians and Cathars (The traces of the lineage and worship of Mary Magdalene in France and Magdalene pilgrimages in Southern France – what is going on there?)
- Mary Magdalene and the Templars (the mysterious and powerful order of the Knights of Templars – and how were they connected to the mystery of Mary Magdalene)
- Mary Magdalene and the Empress (connections of ancient myths of Sophia and their fulfillment now)
- Mary Magdalene and Alchemy (How did Mary Magdalene inspire Alchemists)
- Mary Magdalene and the Planet
- The Evolutionary Wisdom of the Gospel of Mary Magdalene (and what is really in it)
- Mary Magdalene Today (more delicious stories)
And more. Please note that the order of the blogs might vary, depending on how my research progresses and on the degree of access I have to books that are not easily accessed. But I promise you Mystery, Adventure and glimpses of Lost Wisdom.
For those who know me well, you can expect a book once the project is completed :).
If you are interested, please give me some encouragement as one can’t live on excitement alone 🙂
